Hail Kinak,
I board the ferry going back to the main land. Again, it is bare except for the few crew members. I haphazardly plop on one of the benches by the side wall and stretch out my arms. I sat there a few minutes, and then the horn sounded, signaling the ferry's departure. I almost nodded off to sleep when a familiar voice awakened me. I stood to see the fisher woman running down the dock. When she reached the end, she tossed her tackle box and rod on board and made a desperate jump. Her fingers just managed to catch the edge of the departing vessel.
"I didn't think you'd come," I said as I pulled her up into the ship. "Though you'd be scared of another defeat." I chuckled. She smacked my hand away as she stood up herself.
"Would have gotten here faster if the Gym Leader didn't need to heal his Pokemon for so long.," she explained. I laughed to myself again.
"Yeah, I stomped them good," I boasted. She thrust her face mere inches away from mine, staring into my eyes with her unflinching, cold, black lenses. She grasped a Pokeball in her hand. Already, members of the crew were seeking good places to watch the fight from. "O-okay," my cracking voice squeaked. A smile actually formed from her mouth. Not an evil one, either. It had an almost warm aspect to it despite her eyes still bearing that frosty glare. I slowly backed away, and walked to my side of the battlefield.
Not wasting any time, she cast her chosen Pokeball before I even reached my end. I quickly pulled my choice out and hurled it as well. Both balls struck the floor simultaneously, releasing the caged beasts within. Mooky, my Mankey, came out directly facing a Krabby. Although small, the crabs are difficult opponent. Mooky positioned his arms and legs into a combat stance and awaited the Krabby's attack. The crab reared back its crushing pincers in a striking pose. They scuttled around each other, waiting for the other to act.
"Oh, come on! Not again. Just attack it! I've got other things to do!" the girl commanded her monster. Obeying her order, it lunged out a claw. Mooky intercepted it with a quick chop, knocking it to the ground, and hit the other claw with his foot. By this time, the first claw was already hurtling towards him again. He stepped on top of it, pinning it to the ground, and kicked at the other claw with his spare leg. The Krabby managed to the swerve its pincer out of the way and clamped down on Mooky's leg.
A shrill screech of pain bellowed from the pig monkey. In a fit of rage, he crashed his hand down square between the eyes of the crab, and again on its pincer which clutched its leg. The blow did not open the grip, though, and now the Krabby had freed its other weapon. Bones were heard snapping as its pincer embraced his other leg. A deafening squeal sounded as Mooky waved his hands from his suffering. I could see blood trickling down the crab's claws.
Without warning, Mooky threw his arms downward. Holding them back, his body became motionless as if all of the pain he was experiencing had just vanished. Now, his rage filled eyes bore down upon the Krabby. The gaze was so fearsome, Krabby was petrified. They both stood out in the battle field inert. The clock ticked by as Mooky's breathing picked up. His eyes seemed to bulge from his skull. In a single blaring shriek, he let loose a burst of fists. The pace he kept this up was phenomenal. As his fist beat down on the Krabby's thick shell, pieces began to chip off. It strived to clench onto its opponent's limbs, but the pig monkey's berserker rage was too strong for it to be felt.
The flurry of knuckles ceased, and Mooky flipped back. This lifted the Krabby from the ground and flung it around behind him. Catching the ground with his hands, the Mankey completed its feat, forcefully bringing the Krabby back down to the floor. It impacted head first onto the hard wooden deck. Either the pincers opened from the shock of the collision or broke open, but Mankey's legs were now freed. The Krabby laid tranquil on its back. Its limbs flailed out in all directions. Both of us ran to our Pokemon to check on their conditions.
I bent down and placed my hand on Mooky's shoulder. He was laying on the planking supporting himself on his elbow. His legs quivered slightly. I moved my hand carefully to the wounds. They were deep into his flesh, but the bones seemed undamaged. I ripped off two strips of cloth from my shirt and wrapped them around the wounds. Aside from two deep cuts and severe physical exhaustion, Mooky seemed all right. I only wish the same were true for my opponent. I retracted the pig monkey into its ball, and went to inspect my opponent. I knelt down besides the girl.
"Is it alive," I asked I saw its extremities hanging lifeless in her arms.
"No," she answered me. "No, it's fine. Just a little shaken up. Right, Cancer?" It twitched its pincers and foamed the mouth in response. Her sympathetic smile returned to her face, but it was short lived. "Why'd you have to be so cruel to him?" she snapped as she cradled Cancer.
"I-I'm sorry," I sputtered out. "Mooky has a way of going crazy on things. He got pretty torn up in the battle, too, you know. It could be a while before he walks." Her face light up, as though she was proud of her Pokemon wounding another so greatly. She put her attention back to nursing her Pokemon.
"Do you want to go again?" she questioned with her usual demonic grin. I looked out over the bow of the ship. The Fushia shores were in sight.
"No," I replied. "Looks like we ran out of time again."
"I guess." She shot a quick glance at me. I stood, and got my things. As the docks drew nearer, I hopped on them, and followed my map to Celadon.
Some way down the path, as I was checking my map, I heard the beating of boots. I reluctantly turned to see a familiar image of a someone carrying a large map with dark fishermen boots and fishing rod poking out. I picked up my pace...
