Hail Kinak,
It has been a long and harsh journey, but I finally approach the end of my hardship. A radiant beam of the Sun's glory was in view. That could only mean I have reached the end of the dank cave. Jabbering incoherently from joy, for it has been many a day since I last saw the light, I frantically stumbled to the aperture. I embraced the light, taking in a deep breathe of fresh air. Directly ahead of me was the Pokemon League Head Quarters. I have come a long way fast, but now all hardships were behind me... right?
Very faintly, I could here a squeaking noise. I knew it lied inside the cavern, but I did not want to face it again. I closed my eyes tight and prayed I could resist. But, I could sense the presence to the rear of me, and I knew I had no choice. The insectoid twitter sounded again. I pivoted with Pokeball ready to face the fuzzy purple insect. From my globe spilled out the limp body of Squishy, my Tentacool. Wasting no time, he stood himself up on his two tendrils and threw himself at the pest.
The Venonat had already begun to run back into the cave, and Squishy landed face first in dirt. Darkness had already begun to envelope the bug. I dashed towards the mouth of the cave and seized Squishy. Near blind in the lightless environment, I constantly ran into walls and tripped on stalagmites. For a long while, the two of us ran through the cave weaving in and out of corridors. Both of us began to slow down, as exhaustion was taking its toll, until it unexpectedly ran into a dead end, where I hurled my Tentacool at it with his tentacles ready to receive it.
Squeezing the Venonat, Squishy latched onto its body and began to seep acidic fluid on the bug, which proved most unproductive. Bouncing around madly, the Venonat slammed Squishy into the surrounding scenery. Abused badly, he still held his grip on the vermin, but through the tossing around, his position was altered and was now in range of the Venonat's mandibles.
It buried its teeth deep into the Tentacool's spongy body, and sapped his vigor. In a fit of grief, Squishy fired a concentrated beam of water at it. It burst on impact into a dazzling array of bubbles. Aside from soaking its fur, the attack did not seem to have much else of an effect. The Venonat flipped in the air and launched a devastating psychic force. Squishy was stunned by the shock of the attack but shook off the ringing in his mind.
After its recovery, my Tentacool began screeching loudly, and it grew in volume yet. This baffled the Venonat, as the species relies strongly on radar. The sudden oncoming of ruckus would be the equivalent of slapping mud in something's eyes. The resonating was not helping it either. The high pitched sounds echoed off the enclosed walls, literally cloaking Squishy in a field of invisibility while the pest ran into obstacles.
In the chaos, Squishy aimed its foam cannon once more at the Venonat. The suds scattered as they were showered upon it, but the Venonat was using this to its advantage. Turning its attention way from sound and focusing wholly on the bearing of the bubble jet, it determined where my Pokemon was standing. It conjured a storm of telepathic energy and dismissed it. The flow of froth ceased from Tentacool.
"What's the matter?" I asked Squishy. "Why'd you stop? Use it again, now!" He only looked at me bewildered, as if he had never known of the skill. My glance shifted from the Tentacool to the Venonat. I knew what it had done now. It had locked out a section of its mind, preventing him from using certain skill that I have taught it. "Hasten, Squishy," I ordered him, "before it strikes again!"
A river of acid was flung from Squishy's mouth and struck the vermin. In a bright flash, it stopped. The Venonat bobbed joyfully. I clenched my teeth. Not knowing what else to do, the Tentacool entangled the pest and beat it. The attempt was quite futile as he was felled in a psychic jolt. I fell onto my knees, awe struck. The Venonat started to dart away, but I was not going to let it. Not after this. It as going to pay. I tossed two Pokeballs. One at the Venonat, which contained Cinder, and the other at Squishy to reclaim him. The scarlet beast arose.
"What up, boss?" he asked. Then seeing the Venonat and Squishy being retracted into an orb, he growled, "You fiend!" He charged the insect, ramming it into the cavern wall. Lashing his tail out, it cracked loudly on the Venonat's fuzzy body. Jumping back, it regathered the mass of Psychic force, and projected it at the Flareon. The might shattered his psyche, and he wandered mindless briefly.
"Cinder," I cried, "snap out of it!" Cinder shook his head and resumed battle. Flame leap from his open maw, scorching the Venonat, but the pest braved the hellfire, and pulled through. Again, he rushed the insect in full sprint while a blaze assembled in his jaw. Acting quickly, the vermin barred part of Cinder's memory from use, but his was not good enough. While the flames did die down, his charge continued. The Flareon came upon the Venonat with a megaton strength. It was pinned again onto the standing stones, which cracked under the immense pressure. He stepped back to see if the bug was done for. It was not.
Staggering, the insect still stood. It looked severely wounded, but it did not seem like it would succumb so easily. Focused tightly, it hit Cinder with another psychic assault. He, too, was fatigued. His head hung in heavy breathing. When he brought it up, he squinted through the blackness and cracked a smile. Using what was left in his force, he jumped. Not at the Venonat, though, just up. Up to the ceiling of the cavern. There, he thrashed at a stalactite. The Venonat could not identify him from the rest of the stone formations due to its radar vision. The only thing it sensed was a large object falling towards it too fast to dodge.
I tossed a Pokeball at the clobbered Venonat and hoped...
