The reaches of Dark Matter's black tendrils stretch far and worm their way deep into the hearts of the innocent. One such individual was a diluted young lad who dreamed of being a hero. Far too weak and clumsy, he cursed those who rejected him and set off to live in solitude, away from those he despised. Early in his hermitage, as he spent away a night in a dark cave, he murmured in his sleep the ill intentions he yearned for those he had left behind. Residing in the same hole was a portion of the smote shadowy overlord. The hatred within the heart of the young Dream Lander called out to the fraction. It had been separated for too long and needed to either find a host to sustain itself or perish. Neither side had a choice in the exchange, yet they both got what they wanted. One got the power he always desired, the other continued to live, and both got their chance for revenge.
A mask of cold, dull silver adorns Grim Aster's face, hiding his true identity from those he once knew. The concealment is in the shape of a star, blaspheming the very icon the Dream Landers cherish, the one after food. A blank eye rests at each of the corners between the side and lower points of the shape. The top peak rises over his head, arching backwards. His body is wide and thick, swelled with his symbiotic passenger. The augmentation turned his bright yellow skin to tawny amber. His arms do not proceed to a point, as is typically seen, but widen to thick, club-like stumps. Large, blocky boots cover his feet, crafted of a dark purple and sturdy material.
Grim Aster is cold, cruel, and whiny, all the makings of a perfect archvillain. While he talks big, he has little to back it up with. The limited power within the dying shard that took root in him and the utter absence of potential he started with added together to make not much more. However, what he lacks in pure force, he compensates for in diabolical ambition. His drive to create ruination and disarray rivals that of the greatest evil masterminds. Sadly, he's just not that good at it.
Corrupt to the core, his armament is naturally fueled by darkness. His attack of choice is the Nega Star. Dark energies are pulled from his body and hurtled from his arms in the form of star-shaped voids. They are entirely comprised of primal darkness, which, in essence, is the same thing as ordinary shadows. While the shots pack a punch, his mastery over the arcane is greatly lacking. His aim of and carrying out the launch are sluggish. On top of that drawback, his negative forces need time to recharge before another volley can be executed. Luckily, the cudgels he calls hands also bring some heavy power to a fight and make a better weapons than most of the war tools themselves.
A useful skill he had acquired, unbeknownst to others if it originated before or after his black union, is called the Star Bound. This feat allows Grim Aster to temporarily release himself from gravity's pull. With a clear path and the desire to do so, he can transcend the clouds and touch the heavens. Upon a brief meditation, a ring of trailing stars orbits his body, much like his Nega Star but smaller. With a slight kick off from the ground, a straight ascension of perpetual motion will continue so long as his concentration is maintained. This state prevents him from defending himself or even changing directions, and any interference, such as from an obstacle or an attack, will return him to the world's grip and send him plummeting back down. If he desires to break the ascention of his own will, the circling stars can be released, one to each side, to inflict some minor damage.
