Encyclopedia Bimblesnaff: Avyron

Valant hero and destined champion in Idos.

Entry: Avyron
Series: Lost Legends of Idos
Origin: Old Paper Quest
Generation: 1st
Created: c. 1989

A vagabond who goes by the title Blade Master. He is aligned with Obog and Yntra spiritually. He brings his dual blades into combat only when necessary, relying on a blitz of smaller knives up his sleeves for the most part. Despite appearing as a Knamu, he is actually a construct, a Doll, forged out of the remains of destructive powers over the ages, including the fallen Overlord Orken. Upon close inspection, these details can be seen, such as his lack of a tale and blue plummage. His path crosses that of Yhw when he becomes separated from his hound and companion, Farel.

He is believed to be the legendary warrior spoken of in the Lost Legends of Idos, descendant of the Last King, heir to the spirit fragment Savior, and wielder of the Legendary Weapon. However, as he was not born but forged, this cannot be true. Rather than being the champion at the end of the tale, he is the one spoken of at the start. He reinstates the terrestial kingdom on Idos, becoming its last king. Rather than wield the weapon, his body is made up of fragments of it. He was, in essense, the greatest weapon as he fought without a wielder. His essense, much like the king, does contain that of Savior.

Throughout his journeys, he singlehandedly defeats an army of fiends, restores the fallen castle of Idos, cuts Grug in half, kills the one he was sent to protect, Pomae, and travels back in time to defeat his former self, Orken.

History:

Avyron has one of the most jumbled histories of any character. While many follow a direct evolution, he is one limb on a branching tree known as the Heroes or Adventurer (You). For an old Paper Quest, one featuring The Kingdom of Idos which would later inspire the series, there was a non-descript, unspecialized base character for the player to take control of. Over the years, many attempts were had at revitalizing this character. The model that would go on to be Avyron was developed in G2 and finalized in G3 where the complication had just began.

The character was designed to be human, but he secretly wasn't human, he was part elf. Then, he was all elf, only he wasn't since he was an air elemental, a sylph. This changed hands yet again as he became a sentient weapon given human form to maximize its potential. Add on a few gender benders, the fact that he may or may not have wings, and the shift to a Knamu base race in G5 plus a revolving door of storyline ideas, and he had to be put to a stop. He was removed from the generic Hero line and had Bogg take his place, who would, too, grow too big and defined for the role and have to be replaced himself.
