"Terror from the Sky", "The Flying Plague", or "Wind of Famine" all sound like harsh name. When told about this cruel creation, one would never match its story to its face. It was a weapon of war manufactured by a mad scientist for use against his kingdom's rivals. The seemingly harmless lifeform travels in large flocks. These are easily carried by the wind and drift through the sky. They drop down near crops and food supplies and eat without filling. Entire stockades and harvests can be ruined. The delicate, charming appearance is the creature is its first line of defense against attack, but its hide is rubbery and not truly skin, as it is a sythetic animal. Attempts to harm it go largely fruitless and just knock it around. Its short memory quickly allows it to forget the attack, and it returns to hopping about merrily crying out "meep".
The weapon was designed well, and the depoyed swarms quickly ate the enemy territories into a surrender, but the plague dispersed before they could be reclaimed. They drifted across the Orb and consumed whatever food they could. Most folk don't have the heart to try and stop them, and those who lacked such failed.
History:
Dwpi were originally known as Doopey Birds, but I wanted to remove the animal from their name since there weren't really "birds" in the Idos universe. Remarkably little has been altered from their structure since their creation. Their mouth has been bent into a V-shape to allow it to open like a flap which aids in the believability of it stretching to great sizes. The Dwpi's story has also maintained good consistancy. They were born a flying plague and they've never had to look back upon any "once upon a times" since. The only detail that has changed is who they first meet in the Legends of Idos story line. It started as generic Avyron, moved over to defined Avyron, shifted to Bogg and then wound up where it ought to have been, Yhu.
