Vadle is a mistake. It was created as a playmate for a wizard's daughter -- a gentle giant made of cloth and stuffing. It was too soft to any harm but able to keep her save from danger. The magician had enemies, and they eventually got to him. The scared girl, upon finding her dying parents, tried her best to bind their spirits to the corporeal world. The beginning mage managed to catch the scraps of ether in the surrounding air, that of her father, mother, and the dog, and captured them in a bowl used by the pet. She bound this object to her stuffed friend. Its simple mind was overwhelmed by the conflicting presences and thoughts of fear, pain, and horror. Over time, she learned the folly of her ways and tried to end her creation by shattering the bowl to give her parents a final peace. It was too late, however, as the life force had taken on a new life within the doll.
Vadle, the family's name, wears the hide of the dog draped over its shoulders so that it can have real skin. The shattered bowl, crudely glued back together, is placed over its head to give itself a face.
History:
Vadle was created as a theoretical character to appear in a forum role playing game, Althanas. The character, however, was ruled as being "too unique" and incompatiable with the style of interaction to ever be used.
