Jammer Controls
Squeaky Bogg Jammer is a platforming action game played using the keyboard. You manuever the green little guy through various levels while avoiding enemies. The goal is simply to complete each stage and, finally, the boss. There's no required order to complete any level or additional tasks. It's a straight forward, side scrolling game play.
Basic Controls
Movement
The player moves with the keyboard [Left] and [Right] arrow keys. All movement starts out sluggish but quickly accellerates. Squeaky Bogg cannot walk through walls and other obstacles, but can pass through foes while recovering from a hit. Pressing the direction twice in quick succession initiates a Dash which greatly increases the top speed.
Jump & Bound
A basic jump can be executed by pressing [Up] or [Control]. This allows the player to get around objects and enemies or ascend through thin platforms. The longer the key is held down, the higher he goes. Releasing the key stops his rise. If the player jumps against a ceiling, he will hang against it for a while and not just bounce off and fall to the ground.
Spit & Attack
Offense is carried out with Squeaky Bogg's foul mouth. Unleash an attack with [Shift]. At the start of the game, and after recovering from a lost life, he can only spit out a stick wad of acid. Other shots are possible upon picking up the appropriate power-up, found mostly by killing enemies. For more information, see Shots.
Advanced
Squat & Drop
The last of the basic directional keys, [Down], has Squeaky duck down low. This can help him avoid attacks or, if struck regardless, keep him from being knocked back. If squatting over a thin platform, only the light colored variety, he can drop through them to the lower level. While squatting, the player cannot execute any spit attacks. However, a new technique is unlocked, Tail Whip. Pressing [Shift] while holding [Down] allows surfaces stood upon to be knocked out.
Bounce & Stiffle
Jumping is an important means of getting around, but it sometimes is not enough. To get to those extra high areas, a Tail Spring can be performed. While landing on the ground, holding [Up] will rocket Squeaky higher up than a single leap could ever get him. The harder he hits the ground, the more spring in the rebound. Likewise, to lessen the recoil from crashing into the ground, hold [Down].
Off the Walls
Squeaky Bogg can cling onto walls by either slamming into them at a high speed or holding that direction against it. He'll Cling to the wall for a short amount of time. In order to grap on to a wall, however, most of his body was be against it. He can't get away with just the tip of his feet or horns. This is a very integral part of the game's controls as, from this point, many useful manuevers can be performed in a collection called Wall Spring. Depending on the key pressed while in this state, a different action follows.
Pressing the direction away from the wall will send Squeaky out and over quickly. In fact, he'll already be started in a sprint. Jumping sends him up and outward to get far distance. Down propels him quickly towards the grond. Going towards the wall pops him straight up and is useful for getting him around a ledge that was just too high out of reach. Lastly, pressing the attack button immediately has Bogg turn about and unleash an attack. It's a good way to immediately strike against a foe who snuck up against you.
Gameplay Goals
Mail Hall
At the start of the game, the player finds himself in a chamber full of glittering diamonds. These are the doorways to the various stages. As each is entered and completed, the player will return to the atrium and the entered doorway will vanish. Once all stages have been completed, the final portal to the boss will open.
Levels
Each of the played stages consists of several enemies and obstacles that stand in the way of the player reaching the end. To complete the level, one must simply touch the end doorway, another diamond. Foes and their attacks can damage Squeaky, and too much damage results in him having to restart the level. After all lives are lost, the stage is exitted so another can be attempted. That level's doorway will remain unsealed.
