Random notes from the Author
This completes the first part of my fanatic fiction. I hoped you enjoyed it. And now, for anyone who actually made it through all of the chapters, I present some interesting, and not so interesting, notes, tidbits, and facts about the fan fic you have just read.
I first got the idea for this fiction way before the April of 2000 but could never get started on it before then. Pokemon Gold/Silver were not known about when I first even conceived the idea. This made it a bit awkward to right, since I wanted to include some of the GS Pokemon, skills, etc. in the fic. In fact, you can find some references made that I didn't want to hold back on (the Parasect using Light Screen for example). But, to keep it in the original envisionment, I tried to keep strictly to the basics.
And now for some near worthless information: Rei's father is, in a sense, myself. Most of the things about him reflect the first time I ever played the game. Mooky, the Charizard, is in the story since it was my first Pokemon. Like said before, this is not the anime. I'm not some loser child who thinks "Oo, Charizard is so cool! Nothing can beat him!" Hardly. That was the one I picked so that's what I made his first. His other monsters have similar stories, all ones I used when I first played the game.
The completed story as you have just read it isn't even how it was suppose to originally be. I had planned for it to be about twice as long but decided to cut it short when I realized how much time it was taking me to finish it. Of course, it wasn't that hard for me to reduce it since the only piece to the plot that I wanted to have included in the entire story, the sole reason I even wrote it in the first place, was for Wrath to be killed and Mooky's Pokeball to open. That was the only scene I cared about. Everything else was just fluff.
Many problems arose in the beginning. A long while after when I had written the first chapter and half of the next, I decided to rewrite both of them since so long had passed and my writing skills had improved. (yes, that long had passed) At first I had it so that the story would be in third person but then changed it to first person. After a while, I changed it back to third person, but then only the prologue was edited again to first person. This why the first parts are so abound with errors and mistakes.
The whole plot of Rei wanting to destroy all of Rocket was just something I threw together on a whim. I simply thought, "Hey, that can take up some space." At first, I had no reason for Rei to be doing anything. When I had finished the sixth chapter, I said to myself, "Wait. Why is she doing this again? Hmm..." So, I went back and added in a sentence or so to it. If you couldn't tell already, this fic was made very haphazardly, especially from the time gaps. The first chapter was written about a year before the second, which was started way before the next three. There was another lengthy pause before the sixth chapter, which in itself took me about a month to finally complete, followed by the last gap.
In late July to early August, I began to get very tired of my fan fic. When ever I posted it on message boards, people would say that it wasn't that good or too long to even bother reading. Needless to say, I was pretty mad at hearing this. This is one of the reasons I decided to cut its length. Its also when I told myself that it was time to end it. No one seemed to care about it, it was taking up too much of my time, and it had been laying around unfinished for over a year. This is why the last four chapter came out in a rapid succession.
In my writing haste, a number of desired scenes were cut out or cut short. For example, Wrath was suppose to fight against an Alakazam, I was suppose to lengthen the part with Cinder joining Rei, Poppy was suppose to evolve, the new leader of Rocket was suppose to be confronted, not just a high ranking general, and several more monsters were to join Rei. The bad news, or good news, depending on how you look at it, was that as I began to and did finish it, I found actual people who loved it, praised it even.
Therefore, I considered how poorly I wrote the first book, which was since day one just a giant introduction to more books, and all the things and plot lines I skipped past and came to a decision: once Book One is ridded of all typos and grammatical errors, I'd submit it to a fan fic rating/contest site, and if even more people like, I'd write the Book Two: Vengeance.
